Baseball Recap: Conant Comes Up Short

Conant extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 16-15-1. They fell 10-7 to the Hoffman Estates Hawks. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 15-4.

Andrew Miller made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Connor McCormack was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

As for Hoffman Estates, their win bumped their record up to 9-22. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

On Hoffman Estates' side, the team relied heavily on Vinny Luzwick, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Luzwick a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luis Tobella, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Conant and Hoffman Estates are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Cougars will head out to challenge Highland Park at 4:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for Hoffman Estates, they will look to defend their home field on the 27th against Libertyville at 4:00 p.m.
