Softball Recap: Boone Central Wins Going Away Against Ponca

Boone Central barely beat Ponca the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 14-6 victory on Saturday. Considering the Cardinals have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Clara Morrow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Morrow was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brynna Hagemann was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Makenna Devine was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Boone Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 11-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Boone Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Ponca, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-15.

Boone Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 loss against Guardian Angels Central Catholic on the 27th. As for Ponca, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against Pierce on the 27th.
