The Northside Patriots will face off against the St. Pius X Catholic Golden Lions at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northside's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Peach County 15-0. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Wetherly Ridley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ridley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September.
In other batting news, Kassidy Anderson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. Taryn Stringfellow was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peach County only posted an OBP of .200.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Pius X Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on North Springs with a sharp 8-0 win on Tuesday.
St. Pius X Catholic pushed their record up to 17-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Northside, their record is now 23-7.
Northside was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Pius X Catholic in their previous meeting back in September, winning 11-6. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Golden Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
