Softball Recap: Community Has No Trouble Against Marion County

Community came out on top against Marion County on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Trojans blew past the Mustangs 10-0. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won seven in a row.

Jocelyn Curtis made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Community let Chloe Johnson and Lydia Hoyt run wild. Johnson went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Hoyt went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those four hits gave Hoyt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Myla Carroll, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marion County only posted an OBP of .300.

Community's record is now 6-13. As for Marion County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marion County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brashear at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
