Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Malachi Thompson and Grafton Eiff Lead Providence Classical to Victory

The matchup between Providence Classical and Covenant Classical on Tuesday hardly resembled the 36-22 effort from their previous meeting. The Paladins blew past the Warriors 65-44. The Paladins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Providence Classical was led to victory by Grafton Eiff and Malachi Thompson. Eiff went 9-for-16 on his way to 26 points along with eight boards and seven assists, while Thompson dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Eiff is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last 21 games he's played dating back to last season. Lucas Leftwich was another key player, putting up eight points.

Providence Classical's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Covenant Classical, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Providence Classical will square off against Arborbrook Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Eiff and Ethan Jones. As for Covenant Classical, they will face off against North Hills Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
