Volleyball Recap: Oakton Victorious + How To Watch

The Oakton Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Wakefield Warriors on Thursday.

Oakton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 15-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-9.

Madison Meiring paced Oakton's offense, picking up 16 kills. Meiring got some help from Julia Lee and her 39 assists. Meiring also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Olivia Baick, racking up four apiece.

Oakton's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Wakefield, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakton will host Chantilly at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Wakefield, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against McLean at 7:30 p.m.
