Softball Game Preview: Edmund Burke Academy Spartans vs. Brentwood War Eagles

Edmund Burke Academy is 1-9 against Brentwood since August of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Spartans will host the War Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Edmund Burke Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Georgia School for Innovation & Classics with a sharp 7-1 win. Considering the Spartans have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Brentwood posted their closest victory since August 5th on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Edmund Burke Academy 8-7. The win continues a trend for the War Eagles in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Skylee Duggan, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Welch, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory got Edmund Burke Academy back to even at 8-8. As for Brentwood, their win bumped their record up to 14-1.
