Monroe has gone a perfect 9-0 against Anson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Redhawks will be playing at home against the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. Monroe will be strutting in after a victory while Anson will be coming in after a loss.
Monroe is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past West Stanly to the tune of 56-7 on Friday. The Redhawks haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Jamir Jackson produced another solid effort rushing for 84 yards and one score on only eight carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Monroe was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Monroe didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jackson, Teohn Clyburn, and Chris Robinson picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Anson faced off against Mount Pleasant on Friday. The Bearcats fell 26-14 to the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Tigers are ranked 136th).
Monroe will have to contain Tasean Harris as he made an impact in Anson's last game. He rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown.
The victory got Monroe back to even at 3-3. As for Anson, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Monroe has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 183.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Anson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 288 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Monroe against Anson in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-0 win. Will the Redhawks repeat their success, or do the Bearcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
