Soccer Game Preview: Riverbank vs. Summerville

The Riverbank Bruins and the Summerville Bears will meet on Tuesday for a tough Bear Battle. Riverbank's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Riverbank turned things around against Bret Harte on Thursday. They never let the Bullfrogs onto the board and left with a 1-0 win.

Meanwhile, Summerville had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.9 goals) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over the Red Hawks. With that victory, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 2.6 goals per game.

They hit Calaveras with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kylie Peterson (2), Jaxie Johnson, Sawyer Stark, and Brenna Nixon.

Summerville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those four matches. As for Riverbank, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 2-19-1.
