Soccer Game Preview: Montgomery vs. Mount Miguel

The Montgomery Aztecs will head out on the road to square off against the Mount Miguel Matadors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Montgomery had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the six-goal drubbing they dealt High Tech SD on Friday. The Aztecs blew past the Storm 6-0. The matchup marked Montgomery's most dominant win of the season so far.

Mount Miguel played against Bayfront Charter on Friday and won via forfeit.

The victory (which was Mount Miguel's third in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Montgomery, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2-1.

Everything went Montgomery's way against Mount Miguel when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as Montgomery made off with a 5-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Aztecs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
