Basketball Recap: Geibel Catholic Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

Geibel Catholic had won nine straight home games dating back to last season and Emma Larkin did her part to make it ten on Monday. The Geibel Catholic Gators had just enough and edged the Clairton Bears out 65-62 thanks in part to Larkin, who went 11 for 26 en route to 38 points. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for five straight games.

Mallory Clemmer was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played.

Despite the loss, Clairton still got an impressive performance from Iyanna Wade, who posted 39 points. That was a full 62.9% of Clairton's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was K Fuqua, who had 11 points.

Geibel Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Clairton, they moved to 9-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Geibel Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 67-47 win against Bishop Canevin on the 23rd. Clairton has also already played their next contest, a 63-52 victory against West Greene on the 23rd.
