Baseball Recap: Calvary Christian Has No Trouble Against Shaw

Shaw typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Calvary Christian proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 14-5 win. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Calvary Christian got a great performance from Colton Silvestri as he struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Silvestri a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cam Houston, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. He has become a key player for Calvary Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 8-9 otherwise. Mason Bishop also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The win got Calvary Christian back to even at 10-10. As for Shaw, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-12.

Looking ahead, Calvary Christian will host Russell County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Shaw, they will head out on the road to take on Columbus at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
