Basketball Recap: Julia Holmes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead University over La Quinta

University suffered their closest defeat since November 21st on Friday. They fell just short of the La Quinta Aztecs by a score of 28-26. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

University lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Julia Holmes, who posted six points in addition to six boards and five blocks. Holmes has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ai Miyano, who put up eight points and four steals.

University's record now sits at 5-12. As for La Quinta, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

University and Northwood will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. University is facing Northwood at the right time seeing as Northwood is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for La Quinta, they and San Dieguito Academy will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. La Quinta's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so San Dieguito Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
