Football Recap: Hancock Takes a Loss

Hancock extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were dealt a 42-6 defeat at the hands of the North Star Cougars. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 215th in Maryland, while the Cougars are ranked 498th in Pennsylvania).

As for North Star, they pushed their record up to 3-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

North Star's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lincoln Paulin led the charge by rushing for 84 yards and one score on only five carries. Kasey Yoder was another key player, rushing for 68 yards.

Coming up, Hancock will host Stonewall Jackson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will be up against the Generals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.33 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for North Star, they are taking a road trip to challenge Northern Bedford County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
