Recap: McGuffey Highlanders vs. Jefferson-Morgan Rockets
The McGuffey Highlanders stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Jefferson-Morgan 60-19 at home. The victory was just what McGuffey needed coming off of a 71-38 loss in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McGuffey to victory, but perhaps none more so than Taylor Schumacher, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Schumacher hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Gaso, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
McGuffey pushed their record up to 13-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Jefferson-Morgan, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
McGuffey will head out on the road to take on South Park at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (South Park is ranked 184th, while McGuffey is ranked 201st). As for Jefferson-Morgan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monessen at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
