Soccer Recap: Southwest SD Takes a Loss

Southwest SD lost against Hilltop back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Southwest SD Raiders fell 2-0 to the Hilltop Lancers. The shutout was out of character for the Raiders seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in January.

This is the second loss in a row for Southwest SD and nudges their season record down to 8-10-1. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-7-1 Montgomery (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.5% over those games). As for Hilltop, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5-1 record this season.

Looking ahead, Southwest SD will take on Sweetwater at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hilltop, they will challenge Montgomery at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Montgomery is on a three-game streak of home wins, Hilltop a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the pitch.
