Football Preview: Nimitz Cougars vs. Benjamin Davis Falcons
The Nimitz Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Benjamin Davis Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Nimitz and Westfield had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cougars lost to the Mustangs at home by a 42-27 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 417th, while the Mustangs are ranked 124th).
Meanwhile, Benjamin Davis waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 50-27 win. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 23 points or more this season.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Nicholas Tramble 11 and David Richardson. Tramble 11 rushed for 225 yards and one score while picking up 7.8 yards per carry while Richardson gained 78 total yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, Tramble 11 is now averaging an impressive 102.8 rushing yards per game.
Benjamin Davis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 376 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
One reason for the win was Benjamin Davis' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Cae'Dyn Daughtry was the leader with two.
