Soccer Game Preview: DeKalb vs. Metea Valley

The DeKalb Barbs will venture away from home to face off against the Metea Valley Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DeKalb has given up an average of 2.8 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for DeKalb after they put the first goal on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 5-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sycamore.

Metea Valley had taken Boylan Catholic down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Mustangs came up short against the Titans, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Metea Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Boylan Catholic are ranked sixth).

DeKalb's record is now 7-9-2. As for Metea Valley, their record now sits at 5-13-2.

DeKalb might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Metea Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Barbs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
