Softball Game Preview: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Northridge Grizzlies

Thompson Valley is 1-9 against Northridge since October of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Eagles will square off against the Grizzlies at 10:00 a.m. Thompson Valley has given up an average of 11.3 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thompson Valley fell victim to Severance and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 14-0 to the Silver Knights.

Meanwhile, Northridge and Timnath faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Thursday. The Grizzlies walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Cubs. The win continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Cubs: they've now won six in a row.

Brooke Riofrio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bo Tellez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Noelle Rodriguez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Northridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.

Northridge's record now sits at 11-8. As for Thompson Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Thompson Valley might still be hurting after the 15-3 defeat they got from Northridge when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
