Football Game Preview: Santa Teresa Desert Warriors vs. Deming Wildcats

Santa Teresa is on a seven-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Deming a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Santa Teresa has given up an average of 45.7 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Santa Teresa's offense might be in the hot seat on Thursday considering what happened against Artesia last Friday. They were dealt a 58-0 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Desert Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico football rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Bulldogs are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, Deming came up short against Goddard last Friday and fell 40-33. While the Wildcats had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Rockets 14-8.

Santa Teresa's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Deming, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 0-7.

Santa Teresa was taken down by Deming 44-12 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Desert Warriors were down 37-0.
