Recap: Vallejo Redhawks vs. San Marin Mustangs
On Saturday, things could have been worse for Vallejo, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-40 loss to San Marin. While losing is never fun, Vallejo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 832nd, while San Marin is ranked 265th).
Veekie Head and Jazmine Cardwell certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Head scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks, while Cardwell scored ten points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks. Cardwell hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Aliyah Ashby was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Vallejo's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for San Marin, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Vallejo will be playing at home against Albany at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for San Marin, San Marin and Archie Williams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
