Basketball Recap: Karla Dimaggio's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Willows over Colusa

Willows was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 56-30 to the Colusa RedHawks. While losing is never fun, the Honkers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 861st, while the RedHawks are ranked 257th).

Several Honkers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karla DiMaggio, who posted 18 points. That was a full 60% of Willows' points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ximena Reyes, who scored nine points.

Danica Chavez was her usual excellent self, putting up 18 points along with eight assists and five rebounds for Colusa. Chavez has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Azbill, who earned nine points and eight boards.

Willows' loss dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Colusa, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 20-6.

Willows does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Colusa, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Winters at 7:00 p.m. Colusa has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three matchups.
