Softball Recap: Glen Allen Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Glen Allen walked away with it. They came out on top against the Western Branch Bruins by a score of 7-4 on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Bruins last Thursday, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Jaidyn Tillman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ally Von Herbulis and Ila Goding did most of the damage at the plate: Von Herbulis went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Goding went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave Goding a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alison Via, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Glen Allen hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

Glen Allen is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Western Branch, with the loss, they broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-4.

As of now, neither Glen Allen nor the Bruins have any future games scheduled.
