Baseball Recap: Savannah Country Day Comes Up Short

Savannah Country Day is still winless after their matchup against Camden County on Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Camden County Wildcats. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Brooks Kleinpeter was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also stole a stolen base, marking his first of the season.

Savannah Country Day's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Camden County, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Savannah Country Day will head out on the road to challenge Effingham County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Effingham County will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Savannah Country Day surely won't give up without a fight. As for Camden County, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Atlantic Coast at 1:00 p.m. Atlantic Coast is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
