Soccer Game Preview: Vinton-Shellsburg vs. Marion

Vinton-Shellsburg is 0-7 against Marion since May of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Vikings will venture away from home to challenge Wolves at 7:00 p.m.

Vinton-Shellsburg had taken Independence down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Vikings fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 1-0. Vinton-Shellsburg have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Marion made sure to put some goals up on the board against South Tama County on Monday. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering Marion's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Vinton-Shellsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Marion, the win got them back to even at 1-1-1.

Vinton-Shellsburg might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Marion in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
