Softball Recap: Ralston's Run of Nine Straight Wins Now Over

Ralston dropped down to 17-4 on Tuesday, ending the team's nine-game streak of wins. They fell 4-1 to the Beatrice Orangemen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 9-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Makenzie Macrander spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elliana Orduna made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.

As for Beatrice, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 20-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On Beatrice's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Karrigan Henrichs gave up only one earned run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks.

At the plate, Beatrice let Tatum Tempelmeyer and Sadie Hereth run wild. Tempelmeyer went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Hereth went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Ralston will square off against Ashland-Greenwood at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Beatrice, they will welcome Crete on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Orangemen 3.5, the Cardinals 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
