Volleyball Recap: Hallie Burroughs Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Poudre

Windsor won the last time they faced Poudre and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wizards walked away with a 3-1 win over the Impalas.

Windsor had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-15, 25-11, 25-21.

Windsor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hallie Burroughs led the charge by getting 16 digs and three aces. That's the most digs Burroughs has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Avery Smiley, who had 18 digs.

They weren't the only good servers: Windsor was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Poudre lost, don't look at Morgan Huffman. Despite the final result, she had 15 digs and three assists. Maggie Foster also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Windsor has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Poudre, they dropped their record down to 12-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windsor will welcome Greeley West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Poudre, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Timnath at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
