Basketball Game Preview: Santa Fe Chiefs vs. Segerstrom Jaguars

The Santa Fe Chiefs and the Segerstrom Jaguars will face off at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Santa Fe sitting on three straight wins and Segerstrom on four.

Santa Fe picked up another tournament win on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-41 victory over Upland.

Santa Fe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Roxy Beltran, who went 6 of 11 en route to 17 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Those seven assists gave Beltran a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Cetina, who posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Segerstrom duked it out withEdgewood on Friday. Segerstrom simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Edgewood 57-10. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Segerstrom's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Santa Fe, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.

Santa Fe didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Segerstrom in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, but they still walked away with a 46-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Santa Fe since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
