Basketball Game Preview: Silverado Hawks vs. La Quinta Aztecs

The Silverado Hawks will head out to challenge the La Quinta Aztecs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Silverado has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Silverado is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since November 26, 2024 on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 63-32 victory over Victor Valley. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Jackrabbits recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Silverado found their leader in freshman Alohilani Atimua, who went 9 for 14 en route to 18 points along with eight boards and five steals. Those 18 points gave Atimua a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyasia Green, who posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Silverado smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, La Quinta entered their tilt with Los Amigos on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 32-28 W against the Lobos.

La Quinta's win came from a few key players Silverado will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Katelyn Vo, who earned three points along with ten boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Katie Nguyen, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Silverado pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points over those games. As for La Quinta, their record is now 23-5.
