Baseball Recap: Poth Comes Up Short

After flying high against Fredericksburg on Saturday, Poth came back down to earth. The Pirates fell 5-1 to the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers/Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on Friday.

Jacob Clark made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Poth's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Floresville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Poth will head out on the road to square off against Edison at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Bears have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Floresville, they will be taking part in a tournament against Jourdanton at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
