Soccer Game Preview: Cabrillo vs. Santa Maria

The Cabrillo Conquistadores are taking a road trip to challenge the Santa Maria Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cabrillo will be strutting in after a win while Santa Maria will be coming in after a loss.

Cabrillo played in conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They beat Santa Ynez by a goal, winning 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Conquistadores.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Santa Maria's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 2-0 to Lompoc. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Saints came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Braves are ranked 575th).

Cabrillo now has a winning record of 9-8-2. As for Santa Maria, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-2-2.

Cabrillo came up short against Santa Maria in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 2-0. Can Cabrillo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
