Recap: Southland Rebels vs. Houston Hurricanes
On Tuesday, The Southland Rebels faced the Houston Hurricanes in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Southland took a 24-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of Houston. Southland has struggled against Houston recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Southland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Austin Swenson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Houston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aden Kulas, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown. Zach Olson was in the mix as well, providing Houston with two touchdowns.
Southland's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only three points. As for Houston, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-5.
Southland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Houston will head out on the road to face off against Kingsland at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kingsland is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
