Basketball Game Preview: Santana Sultans vs. Mount Miguel Matadors

The Santana Sultans will face off against the Mount Miguel Matadors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Santana has four straight wins, Mount Miguel has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Santana is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Monte Vista: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Santana blew Monte Vista out of the water with a 46-12 final score. The Sultans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Santana can attribute much of their success to Sam Mora, who posted 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, and Harper Diaz, who scored 13 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Mora has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaliyah Cruz, who had eight points.

Meanwhile, Mount Miguel played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by West Hills and fell 59-16. The Matadors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-4.

Santana's victory bumped their record up to 21-5. As for Mount Miguel, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-22.

Everything went Santana's way against Mount Miguel in their previous meeting back in January, as Santana made off with a 39-18 win. Will Santana repeat their success, or does Mount Miguel have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
