Basketball Game Preview: Westmont Warriors vs. Leigh Longhorns

The Westmont Warriors will head out to square off against the Leigh Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Westmont will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Silver Creek, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Westmont strolled past Silver Creek with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 43-29.

Meanwhile, Leigh's and Ann Sobrato's contest on Thursday was close at halftime, but Leigh turned on the heat in the second half with 27 points. Leigh put the hurt on Ann Sobrato with a sharp 60-39 victory. The Longhorns pushed the score to 57-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Westmont better keep an eye on Catalina Williams. She was instrumental in Leigh's win, putting up 20 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. What's more, Williams also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Lindsay Takamura was another key player, earning nine points and four steals.

Westmont is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Leigh, their record is now 7-10.

Westmont came up short against Leigh when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 42-36. Can Westmont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
