Basketball Recap: Rancho San Juan's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Rancho San Juan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They had just enough and edged the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs out 38-36. This was payback for the Trailblazers, who suffered a 56-47 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Rancho San Juan found their leader in sophomore Alyssa Hernandez, who posted 17 points along with eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Melony Erazo-Chavez, who put up nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Rancho San Juan moved to 5-6 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Monte Vista Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing North Monterey County the next time they take the court. Rancho San Juan will host North Monterey County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Monte Vista Christian will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
