Softball Game Preview: Salem Seminoles vs. Forest Park Panthers

The Salem Seminoles will face off against the Forest Park Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Salem has given up an average of 17.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Salem is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Heritage just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 16-7.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Forest Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Mays on Tuesday as they made off with a 27-16 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Forest Park got a massive performance out of Ninette Watkins, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and five RBI. The dominant performance also gave Watkins a new career-high in doubles (two). Alivia Cade was another key player, going 3-for-5 with five stolen bases, four runs, and one triple.

Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Forest Park, they moved to 8-9 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Salem beat Forest Park 18-15 in their previous matchup last Monday. Will the Seminoles repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
