Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Irwin County walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Marion County Eagles on Monday as they made off with an 8-1 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Indians, who have now won 22 games in a row.

Brooklyn Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sailor Mixon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Anna Fletcher, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Irwin County's victory bumped their record up to 24-2. As for Marion County, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 19-11.

As of now, neither Irwin County nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
