Softball Recap: Pierce Bluejays vs. Wayne Blue Devils
Pierce extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-10. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wayne Blue Devils. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bluejays have suffered since August 30th.
Kaelyn Halsey made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
As for Wayne, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.
On Wayne's side, Mackenzie Nissen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Nissen has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
