Basketball Game Preview: King City Mustangs vs. Santa Catalina Cougars

King City is 9-1 against Santa Catalina since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The King City Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Santa Catalina Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Santa Catalina took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on King City, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, King City beat Pacific Collegiate 46-34.

Amity Hearne was the offensive standout of the contest as she went 6 for 7 on her way to 12 points along with eight boards and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Crystal Paramo, who posted six points in addition to five boards and three steals.

King City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Santa Catalina was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 40-17 to Seaside. One positive for the Cougars, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Santa Catalina's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for King City, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season.

Everything came up roses for King City against Santa Catalina in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 64-12 win. Does King City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Santa Catalina turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
