Softball Game Preview: Newnan Cougars vs. East Coweta Indians

Newnan is 1-9 against East Coweta since September of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Indians at 6:00 p.m.

Newnan couldn't beat Whitewater on Thursday even though they stacked six runs on them in the seventh inning. The Cougars fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 10-9.

Aubree Webb was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Amelie Leyton was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither East Coweta nor Central made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Indians never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 9-0 win.

Newnan's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for East Coweta, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Newnan might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from East Coweta in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
