Basketball Recap: Benicia Comes Up Short

Benicia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the American Canyon Wolves. The Panthers were probably out for revenge after losing 56-30 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

American Canyon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ysabelle Locquiao out in front who posted 12 points and six rebounds. What's more, Locquiao also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jordan Woodson, who had 17 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Benicia's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for American Canyon, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-5.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Benicia Panthers face off against the Bethel Jaguars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for American Canyon, they will square off against Justin-Siena at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Justin-Siena is on a five-game streak of home wins, American Canyon a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
