Baseball Recap: Boardman Takes a Loss

Boardman and Mayfield squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Boardman had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-0. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Collin Resetar was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Boardman saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sammy Moritz, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Boardman's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Mayfield, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-15.

Boardman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mayfield, they will square off against Walsh Jesuit at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
