Basketball Recap: East Nicolaus Spartans vs. Live Oak Lions
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Colusa, the East Nicolaus Spartans were happy to have found some success on Friday. They blew past Live Oak 54-28. East Nicolaus pushed the score to 47-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.
East Nicolaus found their leader in underclassman Makinze Massey, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Massey hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Gillespie, who scored seven points along with six steals and five rebounds.
East Nicolaus' win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Live Oak, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home.
East Nicolaus will take on the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Paradise has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 5. As for Live Oak, they will head out on the road to take on the Honkers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Willows is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
