Basketball Recap: Minarets Takes a Loss

Minarets was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 42-26 fall against the Yosemite Badgers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Badgers this season, with their most recent loss being a 47-24 defeat back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Minarets saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Savannah Garabedian posted 23 points. That was a full 88.5% of Minarets' points, marking the eighth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Yosemite's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaydynn Ellis led the charge by dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten steals. Ellis has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Johnson, who earned 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Minarets' defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Yosemite, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-16.

As of now, neither Minarets nor Yosemite have any future games scheduled.
