Football Recap: Mankato West Comes Up Short on the Road Against Mahtomedi

Mankato West had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Mahtomedi Zephyrs by a score of 21-19 on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Scarlets came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Zephyrs are ranked 69th).

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mankato West will face off against Owatonna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mahtomedi, they will take on Highland Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
