Basketball Recap: Laguna Beach Has No Trouble Against Magnolia

While Laguna Beach didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Magnolia Sentinels 63-38 on Monday. Given the Breakers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 405th, while the Sentinels are ranked 867th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Kate Cheng, who posted 27 points. Hayden Crane-Henning was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Laguna Beach has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Magnolia, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Laguna Beach wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 44-41 victory against Tustin on the 17th. Magnolia has also already played their next game, a 52-30 win against Saddleback on the 17th.
