Softball Recap: Grand Island Central Catholic Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Grand Island Central Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Freeman Falcons, sneaking past 6-5. For the Crusaders, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Kendall Posey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed eight innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since September 2nd.

Posey wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eva Tibbetts, who went 3-for-4 with one run. That's the most hits Tibbetts has posted since September 2nd.

The win got Grand Island Central Catholic back to even at 10-10. As for Freeman, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 17-11 record.

Coincidentally, Grand Island Central Catholic and Freeman will both be playing Wahoo the next time they take the field. The Falcons will host the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Crusaders will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
