Football Recap: General Mclane Skates Past Meadville with Ease

General McLane had won five straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped up to 7-1 to make it six. They breezed past the Meadville Bulldogs to the tune of 49-20. Considering the Lancers have won seven contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Matt Caro threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. Jackson Kiser was his top target, picking up 123 receiving yards. On the ground, Charlie Bennett rushed for 73 yards.

As for Meadville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 296th, while General McLane is ranked 127th).

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tymir Phillips, who rushed for 101 yards and three scores on only 14 carries. Jordan Lawrence also helped out as he racked up 158 rushing yards.

Looking ahead, General McLane will challenge Cathedral Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will be up against the Ramblers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.86 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Meadville, they will face off against Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Dragons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
