Basketball Recap: Lick-Wilmerding Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Shelby Attley and Hailey Moy

If Lick-Wilmerding was feeling good fresh off their 58-37 takedown of Marin Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lick-Wilmerding Tigers took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Red Devils on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now lost eight in a row.

Lick-Wilmerding's loss came despite strong showings from Hailey Moy and Shelby Attley. Moy dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, while Attley went 5 for 11 on her way to 10 points along with five boards and three steals. What's more, Moy also racked up five steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2024.

Even though they lost, Lick-Wilmerding smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Lick-Wilmerding's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for University, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers face off against the San Domenico Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lick-Wilmerding is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season. As for University, they will welcome Marin Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. University is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
