Basketball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the South El Monte Eagles, falling 50-26. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Marshall this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-41 back in January.

Justine Lucero was her usual excellent self, putting up 27 points and five boards for South El Monte. The contest was Lucero's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Perla Ramirez, who posted nine points.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for South El Monte, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-13.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Rosemead the next time they take the court. Marshall will head out to face Rosemead at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, while South El Monte will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
